The Faculty of Communication is one of the first faculties of Istanbul Aydın University, which was established with the Law No. 5656 ANNEX-73 published in the Official Gazette No. 26526 dated 18.05.2007. From 2007 to 2013, our faculty continued its education with four programs: Public Relations and Publicity, Radio, Television and Cinema, Journalism and Visual Communication Design. Television Journalism and Programming and Advertising programs were opened in the 2013-2014 academic year, and New Media and Communication programs were opened in the 2017-2018 academic year. There are 7 programs in total in the faculty. The education language of the programs is Turkish.


Mission:

Our mission is to bring to life communication professionals who embrace the world and society they live in, who can see events and phenomena from a holistic perspective, who are always inquisitive, who have strong critical and analytical aspects, and who can anticipate the world of tomorrow from today. Our faculty, which constantly updates its technological infrastructure, is inspired by the sector with strong external stakeholder relations and adapts innovations to its programs, has made it its mission to raise individuals who are loyal to the national and spiritual values ​​of the society, sensitive to their environment, and who adopt constant change as a philosophy of life. In this direction, our faculty is managed with a liberal and contemporary understanding that always puts the student at the center and encourages democratic participation.


Vision:

Our vision is to reach the quality standards referenced in communication science and education, to maintain these standards and to keep them up to date according to the needs of the age. For this purpose, as the Faculty of Communication, the academic and administrative staff should plan, implement, supervise all processes and take measures when necessary; revealing original works in the field of communication and gaining scientific studies; We adopt a holistic approach that includes the principles of constructing a creative, innovative and sustainable structure in which theoretical and applied education is integrated. With our well-trained and strong academic staff, our curriculum that includes innovations in the sector, our modern application areas and infrastructure, we offer an education life that is 100% compatible with international standards for communication professionals who are/will be trained in our organization.

Positioning the communication faculties according to the age is of vital importance in the rapidly digitalizing world and in the ever-evolving media conditions. As IAU Faculty of Communication, we are aware of the importance of reading the day and list our core values ​​as follows:

Aim:

Our aim is to be an education, research and application center that is open to change and development in line with social, cultural, scientific and professional ethical values. In this direction, it is to train communication profession professionals who consider social responsibility and benefit in their professional practices, who can look critically at the world and themselves, and who have professional competence and skills.

 

Goals:

1. Ensuring the continuous development of education quality and infrastructure

Keeping education and training programs up to date
Strengthening sectoral collaborations and relations with external stakeholders
Inviting external stakeholders to our faculty and visiting them on-site
To enrich the curriculum with the exchange of ideas as a result of meetings with stakeholders
Organizing digital events, webinar meetings, workshops with experienced and competent names in the field of communication

2. Effective use of application areas such as TV studio, editing rooms, director room, voice-over room, news agency room and photography studio, workshops

In order to combine theory with practice, distribute assignments and projects to faculty practice areas and make assignments among students.
Guiding students to work part-time or project-based in the sector in related fields
Encouraging student participation in application publications such as PR Workshop, Advertising Workshop, as well as IAHA-supported Eye Magazine and IF Haber

3. Development and promotion of scientific research capacity

Establishing a strong and sustainable scientific research policy
To increase the number of publications in journals within the scope of national and international citation index
Receiving project support from national and international institutions
Regular congresses, conferences, seminars, etc. related to the field. carry out activities

4. Improving the quality and infrastructure of postgraduate education

Increasing the functions of the Alumni Association and making the association visible
Organizing social activities, events and mentor meetings that will strengthen the bond between alumni and current students

5. Taking part in social responsibility, public relations and social benefit activities

To be in constant cooperation with the public and private institutions of the city as a faculty.
