Prof. Dr. Duygu Şahin graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology in 2003. After completing her master's degree at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biochemistry in 2007, she completed her doctorate in 2013 with thesis titled "Possible Effects of Diabetes Mellitus on the Brain Insulin-PI3K Signal Pathway and Tau Hyperphosphorylation" and received her PhD title. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a research doctoral student in a scientific research project on DNA damage at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, for 3 months. Dr. Duygu Şahin worked as a Research Assistant at Gazi University Health Sciences Institute/Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biochemistry, between 2005 and 2013. Between 2014 and 2017, she was a lecturer at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biochemistry. She started working as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biochemistry, in 2017. She received the title of Associate Professor in the field of Medical Biochemistry in 2018 and Professor in October 2023. Her areas of interest include oxidative DNA damage, the molecular relationship between diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases, and nutrition and metabolism.
