Mission   Culinary Arts education at universities has gained importance with the increase in population and tourism sector and the demand for training programs. Travelling opportunities has affected domestic and international tourism and in turn the need for qualified employees trained in food-beverages sector has increased. Istanbul Aydin University Bil Vocational School Cooking program was established in 2005 to train young cooks who have the requisite skills and knowledge necessary in today's competitive environment in order to meet the need of experienced cooks in tourism sector and restaurants, knowledgeable of the Turkish Cuisine and regional cuisine of where he resides; to preserve the rich Turkish cuisine in an academic environment and to promote the culture in international arena.   Department Opportunities   Thoroughout the two-year program, candidates will be trained, on application base, in cooking and presentation of food and skills needed for food preparation. Kitchen application, species and sauces, baked goods and deserts, cold cuts, bakery and chocolate are among the classes taught in order for them to gain different cultures and food varieties. Applied courses are taught at a professional kitchen, built on 640 m2 area, located at Anadolu Bil Vocational School. Students have all the means to do preliminary preparation of food and cooking during the applied courses. Students are require to complete two internship during the four-semester program in order to practice theoratical knowledge they gained and strengthen relations with others. After a 30-day internship, students are interviewed and evaluated based on the notes they have taken.   Career Opportunities   Graduates can work at hotels, restaurants, catering companies as chefs or managers in Turkey or abroad. They can also work as flying chefs, a very popular occupation.
