PSYCHO-ONCOLOGY (WORKING WITH CANCER PATIENTS AND PATIENT RELATIVES) TRAINING AND SUPERVISION APPLICATION (ONLINE TRAINING)
Aim of the Program:
Cancer is a group of diseases that can create psychosocial problems and require many struggles at each stage of disease. For this group of diseases to be managed healthily, all units that get in touch with oncology, must work in great harmony. Increasement of this harmony will also be possible with knowing cancer and the psychology of people with cancer well.
The aim of this training, which will be initiated in cooperation with Psycho-oncology Association, International Psycho-oncology Society (IPOS) Federation and Istanbul Aydın University is turning all health professionals and related lines of work, working with cancer patients and their relatives into well-equipped people to recognize cancer, to manage all difficulties encountering in every stage during treatment, communication problems and rehabilitation process.

Day 1
- What Is Cancer, What Are the Common Types of Cancer?
- Stages of cancer, general psychological reactions, and psychiatric diagnoses
- Meaning-oriented approach from the window of Existential Philosophy
- Sociological factors related to cancer
- Cancer and communication
- Talking about diagnosis
- Health professionals, health institution managers, management of the relationship between patients and their relatives, conflict resolution
- Empathy and sympathy when working with cancer patients and patient relatives
- Ethical issues when working with cancer patients and their relatives
Day 2
- Basic psychosocial care techniques for cancer patients and their relatives
- Psychosocial cooperation in terms of psychology-nutrition-physiotherapy-Pain Management-Social Services.
- Basic psychosocial interventions for cancer patients and their relatives
- Providing psychoeducation to cancer patients and relatives of patients
- Family dynamics factor when working with patients and relatives
- Self-care and compassion fatigue of oncology Health care Professionals
Day 3
- Psychotherapeutic approaches in individual interviews with cancer patients
- Psychotherapeutic approaches in group interviews with cancer patients
- Clinical formulation and General Psycho-oncological assessment tools
- Psychosocial Interventions Specific to Cancer Type
- Psychosocial Support for Patients in Remission
Day 4
- Types of Cancer Seen in Childhood
- When and How Should We Be Involved in The Process As Experts?
- First meeting with family
- First meeting with the child
- Ethical Issues
- Needs Assessment for Children, Family and Treatment Team
- Fields that may be difficulties in the treatment process and adaptation process
- Ways to Protect Ourselves as a Therapist

Day 5 and Day 6
First participant group will participate in online supervision work through video recordings of educators ' sessions.
Second participant group will participate in online workshops.
