Message from the Director

In recent years, our country's political, commercial, cultural, and scientific relations and joint activities with Middle Eastern and other Arabic-speaking countries have significantly increased. These increasingly regional and international relationships have especially heightened the demand for highly skilled translators proficient in both Turkish and Arabic in various fields such as international trade companies, tourism agencies, other businesses operating in the tourism sector, engineering and architecture, law, business, logistics, finance, banking, media, publishing houses, copywriting, editing, news agencies, embassies and foreign representations, and private institutions and organizations.

The Department of Arabic Translation and Interpretation aims to train translators who have a high level of proficiency in Arabic, an international language, and who have acquired the skills for written and oral translation. Students in the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpretation receive education in various areas, including the structure of the Arabic language, terminology, literature, reading, writing, speaking, comprehension skills, and translation methods and techniques.
The objective of our department is to cultivate translators who have a developed language awareness, who perceive translation not merely as an activity performed on a linguistic level but as an intercultural communication process, and who are proficient in both Turkish and Arabic as well as the cultures of these two languages. Additionally, our aim is to provide knowledge of translation techniques, practices, and theories, and to familiarize students with the field knowledge and terminology of various disciplines, thus enabling them to gain practical experience in written and oral translation.
