Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	In local service lecture, it is intended to give information about local sufficient public services and some methods which is implemented for serving to citizens.
Course Content	The content of lecture is the description and the qualification of public service, the structure of local public services; providing alternative services in local governments and its extent; privatization in public services and its purposes, privatizatin in city halls, various methods of providing alternative service in city halls, important points for profitting by service methods sufficiently in city halls; incorporation in citty halls and city hall economic enterprise.

The aim of the course

In local service lecture, it is intended to give information about local sufficient public services and some methods which is implemented for serving to citizens.

Course Content

The content of lecture is the description and the qualification of public service, the structure of local public services; providing alternative services in local governments and its extent; privatization in public services and its purposes, privatizatin in city halls, various methods of providing alternative service in city halls, important points for profitting by service methods sufficiently in city halls; incorporation in citty halls and city hall economic enterprise.

Learning Outcomes

They know about the development of public administration as a multidisciplinary academic field.
They read the legislation on local government in Turkey and abroad.
They have information about organizational structure and organizational operations of local administrations.
They learn about local government's finance.
They learn about the history of local government with a focus on the evolution of local government in Europe, Turkey and the United States.
They identify problems about local government's finance and provide solutions to them.
They also provide analyses, advices and predictions related to urban and environmental issues.
They develop alternative methods of the provision of local services.
They add to the social capital of a business by contributing to human resources and in-house communication.
They have a basic understanding of recent social and political developments at local, national and international levels.
They consider historical and structural factors together while they explain a social event.
They can read in a foreign language, especially in English.
Thanks to internship and on-site implementation, they can perform their professional skills.
They practice tecniques of filing and archiving.
They can use Microsoft Office applications.
They follow actual enonomic, social, policy developments and public opinion related to them.
They try to maintain an objective and scientific attitude towards themselves as well as to other people and events.
They improve their ability to express their opinions and feelings in a calm, confident and peaceful manner.
They gain experience of studying and working alone as well as of being a member of a team.
They learn how to think analytically.
They implement their theoretical and social scientific knowledge to their career as well as their everday life.
They provide themselves with a base on which they can pursue their education in social sciences.
They have a ood command of Turkish both verbally and in writing.
They are aware of their social responsibilities.
They draw people's attention to the necessities of becoming a good citizen with democratic culture.
They analyze problems related tp the functioning of local government.

They argue for the protection of local cultural values.
