Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Objectives of the Course This course covers the essentials and methods required to decoding a script, authored in the source langauge, into the target language fluently and correctly by oral means. During the term, the students are instructed on how to's of the techniques for reading aloud, such as breathing techniques, ending sentences, pronunciation, expressing oneself, and practice those. By means of this course, the students also become skilfull in comprehending what they read, grabbing the substance, speed reading, analysing the language used, improving vocabulary and paraphrasing, which will assist them while translating from a written text. Whereas the course provide the students with the opportunity of practicing interpretation over a written text, also helps students organize the basics of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation.
Course Content Contents of the Course The course instructions are based on both theory and practice. The course addresses the various theories, which may effect the choices possible to be made by interpreters, and discusses the miscellaneous strategies and certain techniques of interpretation, during course hours.
