Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The aim of this course is to enable the evaluation of texts according to their purpose and to become integrated with the text at a level high enough to reconstruct it and to be able to position it in a short period of time.
Course Content	The resources and strategies the translator has recourse to in the process of reading a text are researched and texts in Russian are studied. The students are prepared for translating texts from source language to target language by working on various example texts of varying difficulty of various text types.

Learning Outcomes

Have knowledge of Russian language, grammar and other languages that are influenced by the word.
Have knowledge on the countries where citizens speak Russian language.
Has a basic level of knowledge concerning the theories, facts, concepts and principles related to the field of study.
Get information about the companies and the professions in which he / she can work.
Recognize concepts, principles and facts related to the areas where Russian is used.
Use basic level knowledge acquired at the same level or at a further level of education.
Using acquired knowledge and skills interpret the resources reached in translation.

Using Russian grammar theories and bases works on various topics such as technical texts, literary works, commercial correspondence, media, press releases and film translations.
Works as a translator in translation agencies and firms which give interpreting services.
Entitled to teach Russian under the name of specialist teacher in public and private schools.
Participate in many areas such as tourism, foreign trade, banking, media and publishing and in Russian or SSCB consolate.
Can independently carry out a translation from Russian into Turkish and from Turkish into Russian.

Can work in and take responsibilities in teams where higher level translation is carried out.
Can do written translation and oral interpretation in social, cultural or artistic activities.

Learn the grammar rules of the Russian language in the best way and has the Russian vocabulary at the level for translating.

Can do translations in such fields as the translation of literary works, techical documents, laws and regulations, commercial correspondence, social sciences, film, newspaper, written media, simultaneous and consecutive translation.
Know the translation theories to be able to translate in the best way and specializes in translation methods which used in different subjects and fields.

1	Introduction to the course, eluciadation about the function, content and mode of study of the course
2	The concepts of text types and sub-types and their features.
3	The constitutive elements of texts: Subject, genre, context, consistency, assumed kowledge (degree of accessibility), wording patterns etc.
4	The constitutive elements of texts: Subject, genre, context, consistency, assumed kowledge (degree of accessibility), wording patterns etc.
5	The analysis process: Steps, priorities, the wholistic view
6	The quality and importnce of knowledge of texts with regard to the translator profile
7	The concept of culture and examples of layers of translated culture
8	Making the activities of reading, seeing, understanding transparent, the role of personal culture, public culture, cultural culture in the comprehension and perception processes.
9	The definitons of source text and objective text with examples.
10	Types of text and the roles of these types in communication, the influence of the text types on the context of translation in the translation process. The translation context of a text and the importance of the objective audience in the translation process.
11	Translation research methods, introduction to parallel text studies.
12	Possible different translations of a source text, translation context.
13	The analysis of various texts with the aim of translation based on the students' homeworks.
14	The comparison of the features of different types of text.
