Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Students will be able to think abstractly in space organization in the field of Industrial Design; In this context, by investigating the relationships between function, structure, material, technology and form, and giving the necessary information with examples on the use of geometric theories and techniques and physical determinants in product design; It is to convey the basic principles and ultimately provide the student with the ability to analyze and synthesize the whole. By designing products in line with technical information; The aim is for the student to analyze technical details and model the work as a prototype.
Course Content Basic concepts related to structure, strength, durability, material, technology, form and structure relationship; skeleton and mixed systems, connections and fasteners, light, color and filters, the importance of lighting in terms of Industrial Product Design, lamps used in lighting devices, structural basic principles in product design in the field of Industrial Product Design.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Introduction, Definitions and Basic Concepts, Lighting in Industrial Product Design.
2Light, color, filters, the effect of different lights on seeing colors, technical information, basic principles of lighting.
3General information about lamps, lamps used in lighting studies in the field of Industrial Product Design and the reasons for their use. Information about the power, color rendering, light color, lifespan and usage areas of the lamps.
4IP classes in lighting, technologies used in lighting, contemporary lighting designs. The importance of material selection in design, the relationship between strength, form and structure.
5Connections and fasteners, detail analysis in design, types and usage areas of fasteners, the importance of standardization.
6Material selection in model making, perception of integrity with the design, technical detail solutions, processing and leveling of the material.
7Skeletal systems, structure creation, material combination details, correct use of fasteners and their relationship with the material.
8The importance of packaging details in the studies carried out in the field of Industrial Product Design, the relationship between packaging and the product in terms of logistics, transportation, protection, display and marketing.
9Midterm Exam -1 / and General Evaluation.
10The importance of installation and disassembly in Industrial Design, general information about the installation guide and determining priorities in the installation guide. Practical installation work through model studies.
11Ergonomic information to be considered in seating unit design, examples in the field of Industrial Product Design.
12Application of Flat, Folded and Curved Structures and Movable Systems to the material with fasteners.
13General information about structure creation, lattice systems, form cladding and adaptation to model work.
14General Evaluation of the work done within the scope of form, design, material use, connection details, moving systems, form, structure and functional suitability.
